Sean MulliganSean Mulligan was born in Dublin in 1970. He moved to the UK in 1996 and returned to Dublin in 2002 where he is currently based. Since then he has focussed strongly on developing his style and intent and has, in his latest paintings, moved from abstract-figurative to a more purely abstract geometrical style. At the moment he principally paints in acrylic as it is ideally suited to creating the textures which are such an important part of his paintings. In his work, the form of an object is relatively unimportant and is abstracted in an attempt to capture something of its deeper essence. Recent exhibitions include the 2004 May and November Art Ireland shows
and his work has been part of the group exhibition in the Usher’s
Island Gallery, Dublin, since last summer. As well as selling to private
collectors, here and in the UK, his work has also been purchased by the
OPW for the Department of Education. |
